ATHLETE'S FOOT

Athlete's foot, known as the most common fungal infection, is a rash on the skin on the bottom of the foot. Fungus grows on or in the top layer of skin. Fungi grow best in warm, wet places, such as the area between the toes. Athlete's foot spreads very easily through skin contact.

You can get it by touching the toes or feet of a person who has it. Often though, it is contracted by walking barefoot on contaminated surfaces (swimming pools / locker rooms). Touching anything that has the fungi on it can spread the infection to other people. Our physicians can give you the best advice on how to properly take care of these conditions.
