Nail fungus is an infection that begins in one or more of your toenails. The nail fungus starts as a white or yellow spot under the finger or toenail. As the infection progresses, the discoloring spreads deeper into the nail and causes the nail to thicken and begin to develop crumbling edges.

 

The fungus can spread to other nails including finger nails causing more infection. Once the nail becomes thick and deform pain can occur with close shoes. Nail fungus infections can be difficult to treat however, there are many treatment options available that can help clear up nail fungus.
