CORNS/CALLUSES

Corns and calluses are formed when the skin tries to protect itself from pressure and friction due to shoe gear. They are thick, hardened layers of skin.
Treatment for this condition is not necessary unless they cause discomfort. In most cases, corns and calluses disappear by themselves if you simply eliminate the source of where the pressure or friction comes from. However, when pain is present then treatment with a podiatrist is needed.
Diabetics, should be wary of these conditions, as poor circulation of blood to their feet can cause greater risk from corns and calluses.
Our physicians can give you the best advice on how to properly take care of these conditions.
